Talking Trade is the bi-weekly live show by On The Tools where we talk to you- the tradespeople- about the stuff that matters to the industry right now. We’ve covered everything from supply chain to mental health, and now it’s time for a brand new season.
We wanted to give you a heads up of everything we’re planning to cover this season on Talking Trade, kind of like an old-style TV guide.
12 May – Loneliness
The nature of the construction industry often means we’re working long hours away from home and our families. Do you have any coping mechanisms for combatting feelings of loneliness at work? Tune in to share them with your fellow tradespeople and we might discuss them on the panel.
26 May – Late payments
Late payments are, unfortunately, an ongoing issue in the construction industry. We find out about the impacts that late payments can have on tradespeople and their businesses, and decide what we can do about late payments. Make sure you watch this episode if you have a story to share or if you want to get some advice about late payments.
9 June – Sustainability
Even though building and construction are said to be responsible for 39% of all carbon emissions in the world, we’ve seen tradespeople start to step up and do their part for the planet. The 2022 Rated People Home Improvement Trends Report even found that 63% of tradespeople are making environmentally-friendly changes in 2022. Watch this episode to find out how.
23 June – LGBTQIA+
In celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride month, we’ll be listening to the stories of some members of the LGBTQIA+ community who have made a home working in the construction industry. Tune into this episode if you want to learn more about what it’s like to be LGBTQIA+ working in construction, or find out how we can make the industry more inclusive for those in the community.
7 July – Changes to building regulations
From 15th June 2022, there are going to be some changes to building regulations in the UK, as announced by the Department for Levelling Up, Homes and Communities (DLUHC) last December. Watch this episode if you want to better understand what these changes mean, how they are impacting tradespeople, and what we can do about them.
21 July – Crazy site stories
Have you ever had something incredible or unexpected happen to you on-site? Maybe you’ve heard something from a colleague or family member that you thought was just too crazy to be true… This is the episode where we’ll be sharing all of them.
4 August – Band of Builders
We recently announced Band of Builders as the official charity partner of On The Tools. Watch this episode to find out more about this incredible organisation, hear some stories about the work that they’re doing, and how you can support them in their upcoming projects.
The first episode of the new season of Talking Trade will be going live at 6PM across Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
