THE SCALE
Tradespeople are 26% more likely than workers in other industries to experience mental ill health in the UK.
THOSE IMPACTED
100% of UK general builders/multi-trades surveyed reported experiencing depression and/or anxiety.
THE CAUSES
More than 8 in 10 tradespeople who lone work (84%) experience mental ill health.
THE EFFECTS
Around two-thirds of UK tradespeople have misused drugs, alcohol, or both in an attempt to mitigate symptoms of mental ill health.
BUSINESS BEST PRACTICES
Less than a third (32%) of employed UK tradespeople who have experienced mental ill health have access to free counselling or helplines from their employer.
THE SUPPORT AVAILABLE
46% of UK tradespeople surveyed were somewhat or extremely uncomfortable discussing their mental health with a colleague.
